Selecting a Template Provider

Fact: You can choose from over 10,000 web and Flash templates from no less than ten different template providers here on Templates.net. That's both good news and bad news!

It's good news because you have access to by far the widest selection of templates anywhere on the internet. We've checked! Nobody else comes close.

But it's bad news because it may make your decision about which template to buy harder. Our templates are categorized by provider, and to help you limit your search to the most appropriate templates, we've put together this simple flowchart.

  1. Are you a professional web developer looking for ranges of templates so that you can offer customized versions to your clients?

Yes: We would recommend Template Monster for individual designs in the $30-$60 range. Don't forget to check out their affiliate program to increase your margins. Or if you want access to a large number of template-based designs to create a showcase for your work, your best options are to join Boxed Art ($49.95) or Design Load (also $49.95).

No: Go straight to question 2.

  2. Do you need a template for a commercial or professional website?

Yes: You are not going to get the quality and exclusivity you need from a free template.
Click here to find out why or go straight to question 3.

No: If you are developing a personal site then you might like to try to find a free template. We quite like 4Layouts.com and FreeWebTemplates.com.

  3. Are you looking for the best possible quality template?

Yes: You will probably need to pay somewhere between $50 and $70. To further refine your requirements, go to
    question 4.

No: If you would be happy with a relatively simple design, you may wish to try Basic Templates ($5 each) and Templates Resource (mostly $5-$10).

  4. Which of these words best describes the look you want?*

    Subtle, sophisticated, natural:
    Template Monster

    Unusual, stylized, geometric: Design Galaxy

    Futuristic, linear, spacious: Best Templates

*These descriptive words do not, of course, apply to all the templates in these collections, but they serve as a useful starting point for exploration of some of the differences between the providers.
